Bruin Ventures Fireside Chat with Spencer Rascoff: Co-Founder and Former CEO of Zillow
Ever wondered what it is like to be the Co-Founder and CEO of a multi-billion dollar company? Join Bruin Ventures on Thursday, February 4th at 6PM PT to attend its long-anticipated Fireside Chat with Spencer Rascoff. Spencer is a serial entrepreneur, co-founding the Zillow Group, Hotwire.com, and dot.la, and has served on the board of companies such as TripAdvisor and Palantir Technologies. The Fireside Chat will cover everything from his early life at Harvard to his journey at Zillow to what Spencer looks for when making an angel investment. Palgorithms’ Marketing Director
Palgorithms, a UCLA student-run startup whose mission is to help students stay connected, is looking for a Marketing Director! Their app uses personality types and common interests to match Bruins with their most compatible friends and generate customized ice-breakers. Currently, they have a working MVP and a closed beta user base for their app.
As the marketing director, you will lead marketing activities on social media and develop marketing plans to help grow and establish their brand. Prior marketing experience is preferred, but if you are willing to learn and take initiative, don’t hesitate to apply!

“Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling” Podcast
UCLA’s Asian Pacific Coalition (APC) and Bruin Entrepreneurs (BE) are excited to introduce you to “Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling” -- a podcast dedicated to inspiring the next generation of Asian-American business leaders.
Often called the bamboo ceiling, Asian Americans are the least likely to be promoted to executive positions in management. In order to shed light on this issue, their podcast highlights the inspiring stories of numerous Asian Americans who have encountered this problem and become leaders in their respective industries. They also discuss and unpack themes of intergenerational differences, ethnic and cultural identity conflicts, mentorship, racialized barriers + more.
Previous guests have included Bryan Pham (Asian Hustle Network) and Kathy Ohtomo (former VP of Fox). The next episode will feature Felicia Yang, current Material Engineer at Boeing, creator of the Western Ultimate Frisbee team, and Co-Owner of the Astra Ultimate Frisbee Team!
